This luxury hotel nested in the middle of nowhere but colossal trees and wild sand dunes, is located an hour away from Lisboa, in Grandôla, Portugal.

What is striking when driving to the premises, is the vast land of pine trees bordering the main road, immerging you into an enchanted forest. And this is the theme of this experience at Sublime: disconnection.

About the hotel

Sublime disposes of rooms and suites (23), as well as villas (22) across a 17-hectare property, which gives a lot of intimacy to each guest. You never feel piled on other guests, especially during the off-season.

Suites are roomy and have an outdoor area, so sit back and relax on the deck, with exterior seatings helping you unwind and enjoy the sunset.

Villas dispose of their swimming pools, fireplaces, as well as terraces and outdoor areas.

The ambience is warm and welcoming with appeasing neutral tones, wood-coloured interior design and fireplaces in the main building.

What we loved most about the hotel was the attention to detail: from the chosen materials to the care provided to customers to make our stay unforgettable, everything was, sumptuous.

Wellness facilities on-site

The reason we came here, right?

The resort is there to support your fitness goals with a fully equipped gym and a yoga/pilates studio. No need to bring your magic circle in your suitcase, they've got you covered! If you need a personal trainer or want someone to guide you on your movement practices, you can book a yoga, pilates (yes, they have reformers!), or boxing class daily at an extra cost. They also offer tennis and squash courts, along with regular bicycles, all free of charge (except for electrical bicycles).

The spa includes a dry sauna and a steam room, along with an indoor swimming pool. The area is quite enjoyable when only a few guests are present, but can get crowded during peak season as it is rather small.

Their spa menu includes a wide range of massages and therapies, we tried them and loved their quality. Nevertheless, it is a shame that esthetics services (manicures, pedicures, waxing) were ruled out, at least during the off-season. However, you might be able to ask the concierge to bring a professional in.

Services offered

The refinement of the hotel matches the care delivered to clients. May it be at the restaurant or in the personalized goodies brought to our room daily, we felt pampered. And it felt nice.

A concierge is also there to make your stay unique and truly magical.

During our stay in the off-season, only one of the restaurants was open for dinner. Tasca da Comporta serves delicious Portuguese dishes, with the particularity of roasting vegetables (from their garden), fish and meat on their massive outside grill.

An exquisite Vegetarian-friendly menu is available upon request.

To say we were delighted by our stay at Sublime is an understatement! We left rejuvenated and ready to step back into the real world. Slowing down helped us recharge and was a reminder to make time for mindful moments in our daily lives, not just on vacation.
